PAINTED POST, NY (WENY) -- Meet Minnie, WENY’s Pet of the Week from the Pawz and Purrz Animal Rescue!
Minnie, a 5- to 6-month-old puppy weighing only 7 pounds, was recently surrendered to the rescue. She's also a min pin chihuahua.
Despite her small size, she’s full of energy and loves being near her person. According to Boynton, Minnie adjusts easily to new places, making her a great fit for many types of homes.
“She definitely likes to be by her person,” Boynton said, noting that she would do best in homes with older children due to her size.
Boynton also mentioned that Minnie is in good health, eats regular dog food, and has been to the vet. She will soon be scheduled for her spay procedure.
As for anyone interested in giving Minnie a forever home, the adoption process is simple. Potential adopters can visit the rescue center website to fill out an application.
For first-time pet owners or those considering a young dog, Boynton offered advice on settling in a new puppy.
“Let them decompress,” she recommended. “They don’t always do well in a crate, especially when they want to be out and about with you.” She added that Minnie is happiest when she’s not confined to a small space.
Boynton also encouraged the community to support the rescue’s ongoing work. Pawz and Purrz is in constant need of supplies such as puppy food, puppy pads, kitten food, and kitty litter. Additionally, the organization will be hosting a pasta fundraiser on Feb. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, located at 149 West William Street in Corning.
For those looking to make a donation, Pawz and Purrz has an Amazon wish list, or donors can contact the rescue directly to arrange drop-offs or meet-ups.
