Ithaca Police arrest man threatening two people with a knife

ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- On December 29th around 8:48 PM, Ithaca Police responded to the 500 block of West State Street after reports of a man threatening two people with a knife. 

According to the Ithaca Police Department (IPD), officers located a suspect matching the detailed description provided. 

When approached by officers, the suspect fled while throwing the knife as he ran. He was taken into custody less than a block away. 

The suspect, 46-year-old Elijah Pratt of Ithaca, was arrested following a show-up identification.

Pratt faces charges of Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class E Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. 

He was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and is being held in Tompkins County Jail without bail. Further charges are pending.
