NYSP
OWEGO, NY (WENY) -- The second suspect to go on trial in connection to a kidnapping and murder case out of Ithaca has been found guilty.
According to court documents, a jury convicted 49-year-old Angelo Baez of first and second degree murder, as well as first degree kidnapping. Baez is one of 13 suspects charged in the disappearance and murder of Thomas Rath of Ithaca.
Rath was reported missing from Ithaca's homeless encampment, known as "the jungle" in May of 2023. His body was later found on state game lands in Candor, in Tioga County that August.
Baez's trial began in Tioga County court last week. He is scheduled to be sentenced at the end of February.
