Two people critically injured after being hit by a car on Clemens Center Parkway in Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two people are in critical condition after they were hit by a car on Clemens Center Parkway in the City of Elmira Wednesday evening.

According to the Elmira Police Department, the crash happened around 5:50 p.m.

Police said the two people crossing the parkway were hit in the southbound lanes near the Clemens Center Theater. Both people were taken to the hospital, and they are listed in critical condition.

Police said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
