(WENY) -- WENY TV and Williams Honda are once again partnering for the annual 'Operation Winter Coat.' It's a coat drive to help make sure kids in need in the Elmira City School District have a coat this winter.
"These kids need coats more than ever. If they can't get to school and be warm, how can they concentrate throughout the day? We talked to the local schools and teachers and [asked], "What can we do to help the students in town?' They said coats are so important," said Vice President of Williams Auto Group, Dalton Williams.
As of November 19th, two cars are full of winter coats at the Williams Honda in Big Flats. Williams said he's hoping they can fill three cars worth of coats.
"One of the cool things about doing this is, we get a chance to visit all of the schools that are accepting the coats. We [also] get to hear firsthand from the teachers about the students [who] ... don't have a coat. So, getting them these jackets means so much to them, being warm, [and] being out at recess," said Williams.
Williams Honda is accepting donations for Operation Winter Coat until November 20th at 7 p.m. All of the coats will be dropped off to the kids on Thursday, November 21st.
"We're so thankful to work with WENY on this great tradition. It's really something special where we go out and make an impact directly in our community," said Williams.
