Victim Identified in Friday's Deadly Birthday Party Shooting in Southport

SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Chemung County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim who was shot and killed during a birthday party in Southport on Friday, Nov. 15th as 21-year-old J'Sean Williams of Elmira. Authorities say Williams was shot multiple times while attending his own birthday party at a residence on Richard Street.

Police say he was taken to Arnot Ogden Medical Center by Erway Ambulance for medical care but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

"We're asking is that anybody that attended the party on the evening of the shooting if they have not yet been contacted by us, we're asking that they reach out to us instead of waiting for us to contact them," says Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom. "We've talked to a lot of people so far, but there's still a lot of people we haven't spoken with. So we suspect some of that is due to the age of some of the attendees, maybe being a little concerned that they were at a party that was serving alcohol and other things. Maybe they're afraid of getting in trouble with their parents. But we really need them to contact us. We're confident we will identify everybody that was there and eventually get to them. "

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who attended the party, even those who left before the shooting, to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at (607) 737-2933.
