American Freight to Close Stores Nationwide, Including Horseheads

HORSEHEADS, NY (WENY) -- A national retail chain with a store in the Southern Tier is going out of business.

American Freight Appliances and Furniture is shutting down all 328 of its locations across the country, including the store in Grand Central Plaza in Horseheads. The store in Chemung County wasn't open very long, holding is grand opening in the former Kmart building in March of 2023.

According to the company, everything is marked up to 40% off. The closures come after the retailer's parent company, Franchise Group, Inc., filed for bankruptcy protection last month.

A closing date for the Horseheads store was not disclosed.
