ATHENS, P.A. (WENY) - Another student-athlete in the Northern Tier is set to compete at the next level. Athens senior, Sara Bronson is headed to Bucknell University to run cross country and track.
Bronson signed her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday with family, friends, and coaches in attendance.
Sara qualified for the PIAA State Cross Country Championships this season where she recorded a career-best 51st finish.
Bronson will join a Bucknell Women's Cross Country program that finished 2nd at the ECAC IC4A Championships and 4th at the Patriot League Championships. The Women's Track and Field team also had top five team finishes at the Patriot League Outdoor championships last season.
After Bronson made things official, she talked about why Bucknell was the right fit for her.
"Bucknell has a really good engineering school and I have a seat in their Biomedical Engineering program which was my major I was looking into, and they also have a strong, competitive cross country and track team that I would be able to compete on. So everything just fit together," Bronson said.
"The program has a large number of girls who I'd be able to run with and who would be able to push me," she added. "They compete at pretty competitive meets and I'd be able to compete as a freshman and I'm looking forward to having that great dynamic of a bunch of girls to train with. It's really exciting."
