SAYRE, Pa. (WENY) --  Guthrie has received an over $50,000 combined donation from Dandy Mini Marts and Williams Auto Group to fight breast cancer.

Throughout October, the two businesses raised money for the Guthrie Breast Care Fund through Dandy's Pink Cup drive, and Williams Drive Pink initiatives.

Dandy raised $21,856 for the cause, while Williams Auto raised $31,619 for the health group. The money will be used to support patients receiving breast cancer treatment.

"What it means to the hospital and Guthrie is that there are patients who might not have otherwise come in and get care, who are coming in and getting care for breast cancer, and that changes lives," said Ed Sabanegh, CEO of Guthrie Clinic. "We can save lives by the fact that these folks are able to come in and get their screening studies, get their appropriate treatment and live a lot longer and a lot happier lives."

Williams Auto Group also gave a $16,949 donation to the UHS Breast Center in Vestal, N.Y.
