ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- Chemung County Republicans gathered at White Eagle Club in Elmira to watch the election results. All eyes were on the tv or projector as people waited in anticipation for results to come in for the presidential and local elections.
One race the party focused on was the race for Chemung Co. Family Court judge. The candidates for that race were incumbent Republican Mary Tarantelli, Republican Bryan Maggs, and Democrat Matthew Buzzetti.
"I've been an attorney in the community for over 20 years... I ran for this position to make a difference in the lives of the kids and the families that are impacted by family court every day," said Maggs.
According to the unofficial results, Tarantelli and Maggs will become the Chemung Co. Family Court judges. Maggs said once he's sworn in, he plans to hit the ground running.
"I really look forward to the opportunity to hear the cases that are in front of the family court, work with the attorneys from the Department of Social Services, and the Public Advocate... and do the best we can to make a big difference in the community," said Maggs.
