BRADFORD COUNTY, P.A. (WENY) -- Before the Pennsylvania polls closed on Tuesday night, Bradford County Commissioner Doug McLinko discussed the region's record-breaking numbers.
On Election Day, the line of voters at the Athens Township Municipal Building led to the parking lot for hours, and people of all ages showed up to the polls. Family, friends, and even kids came with adults to learn how the voting process works and this is a very crucial election to learn how to do so.
"Yeah, so, huge turnout in Bradford County," said Commissioner McLinko. "We could be going into uncharted territory as far as percentages. We have polls reporting 75% and that was an hour ago. So, I don't know how accurate — people are just — you know one of the precincts said they are going to have everyone in the township vote. So we've got huge numbers all over the county, people are driven to vote. I hope that there's a message that's inside of all of that."
The Commissioner spoke to WENY News around 6:30 P.M. on Election night, just an hour and a half before polls closed in the state at 8:00 P.M.
The turnout records truly showcase how important the swing state of Pennsylvania is in the results of the 2024 General Election.
