The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation employs more than 3,000 people.

New York State police have not said if the threats are in retaliation of the seizure and euthanasia of Peanut the squirrel, along with Fred the raccoon from a farm sanctuary in Chemung County. Police would only say it's an active investigation.
