SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Town of Southport has received $290,000 in federal funding in order to buy a new snowplow, according to Congressman Nick Langworthy.

“Harsh Southern Tier winters require that our towns have the tools to keep roads clear and safe,” said Langworthy. “This federal investment will give Southport the necessary resources to respond effectively to winter storms, protect residents, and ensure access for emergency services."

Southport is getting a $50,000 grant and a $240,000 loan from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development program to purchase a 2023 Volvo plow truck worth $311,113. The rest of the funding to buy the truck will be coming from local sources.

To new truck is marked to replace an outdated vehicle.
