ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tom Carle, a former businessman who now lives in the Jamestown area, is the Democratic nominee trying to unseat incumbent Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy.

Carle tells WENY his best time was spent helping struggling manufacturers rebound out of debt, and helped fix other poor business practices. He says he is hoping to do the same in Washington, should he be elected to Congress.

"If this district would really like to have an opportunity to grow and progress, move forward, I mean we've done a lot in this district, even with what we have, but you need to get someone that can align with state government like myself," said Carle. "Someone who looks at everybody as, you know, every voter. I don't look at it, whether you're Republican, Independent, Democrat, Green party, there's something for you with a Carle candidacy that can help District 23."

If Carle were to win the NY-23 congressional election, this would be his first elected office he has held. The NY-23 congressional district stretches along New York's Western Southern Tier region from Tioga County in the east, to Chautauqua County and up into Erie County in the west.

Nick Langworthy, Carle's opponent is currently serving his first term in Congress in the NY-23 district.
