Two dogs killed, home heavily damaged in Avoca house fire

AVOCA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two dogs are dead and a home is heavily damaged after a fire broke out in Avoca on Sunday night.

According to Avoca Hose Co. #1., the fire broke out on Alexander Street in the Village of Avoca around 8 p.m.  Crews from multiple departments were called out to help put out the blaze.

No one was home at the time, but two dogs in the house did not make it, according to the fire department.  The American Red Cross was called in to assist the affected family.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
