ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- A fundraiser happening in November will help pay for the upcoming treatment for a Chemung County Sheriff's investigator, who was seriously injured in the line of duty earlier this year.

Chemung County Sheriff Bill Schrom announced a benefit for Investigator Michael Theetge. Money raised from the event will go towards upcoming treatment in New York City for Theetge's traumatic brain injury. According to Schrom, Theetge's insurance and Worker's Compensation does not cover the cost of the treatment.

Theetge continues to recover after he was injured in the line of duty on March 29th. Theetge was trying to apprehend a suspect in a theft investigation at the Target in Big Flats, when he suffered a traumatic brain injury after being thrown from a moving car that was trying to flee the scene.
