BRADFORD COUNTY, PA. (WENY) -- Three Bradford County school districts have received state funding for facility improvement projects, according to State Representative Tina Pickett.

“Many of our older school buildings have reached a point where extensive renovations are necessary,” said Rep. Pickett, a Republican. “This state funding will assist school districts in that regard and will also make the buildings safer and more efficient while alleviating some of the burden on local property taxpayers.

The Wyalusing Area School District is getting $1 million to replace the roof at the high school. The Sayre Area School District is getting $400,000 to make ADA compliant upgrades at the high school and H. Austin Snyder Elementary. J. Andrew Morrow Primary School in the Towanda Area School District is receiving $250,000 for a roof repair project.

Pickett worked with State Senator Gene Yaw to secure the money.

"It is critical that we support efforts to improve aging infrastructure in many of our local schools, some of which haven’t seen significant upgrades in decades. The funding approved today will be incredibly impactful for these schools," said Sen. Yaw on Tuesday.

The funding was allocated to the schools through the Pennsylvania's Commonwealth Financing Authority's Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program.
