One Person Dead After Hitting Parked Tractor Trailer in Owego

UPDATE 10/23: The Tioga County Sheriff's Office has identified the person killed after the fatal highway collision in Owego Tuesday as 19-year-old Ian Mockler from Sayre, Pennsylvania.

OWEGO, NY (WENY) -- According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, one person is dead after a two-car crash in Owego early Tuesday morning.

Police said around 1:15 a.m. on October 22nd, they responded to a serious two-car crash on Route 17 heading westbound. 

Authorities said that a tractor trailer was pulled over and parked on the should of the road, when it was hit from behind by another vehicle. Police said the driver who struck the tractor trailer died at the scene.

The tractor trailer driver was not injured. The victim of the crash has not been identified.
