Man seriously hurt after swerving to avoid potential collision on Wilawana Rd.

CHEMUNG, N.Y. (WENY) -- One man is hospitalized after rolling his car when he swerved to avoid another on Wilawana Rd. in Chemung, according to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened Tuesday just after 3 p.m. According to investigators, an elderly male was following a vehicle on the road, who slowed down to turn left onto a driveway. The man did not see the vehicle slowing, and swerved just in time to avoid a crash with that car, according to law enforcement.

After swerving, the car left the rightside of the roadway, rolled and came to a rest upside down after traveling about 200 feet.

The man in the car that flipped sustained a head injury, and is currently in the Robert Packer Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
