Luminary Services to remember and heal from grief happening later this month

NEW YORK (WENY) -- Two luminary grief services will be happening in late October in Chemung and Schuyler Counties. The events, 'Love Lights Up the Night' are being put on by CareFirstNY.

The services are available for anyone in the community to remember and heal from grief, as well as celebrate life's memories.

The first event is happening at Eldridge Park in Elmira on Friday, Oct. 25th at 6 p.m. Another event will be held at Clute Park in Watkins Glen on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.

"Grief is something that we all share, we all experience in our lifetimes," Rick Miller said, a Grief Support Coordinator for CareFirstNY. "We are hosting these luminary events as a way to support our community through the process and to remind people that they are not alone."

Luminaries are available for participants to use, they can be purchased for $10. Organizers are asking those interested to register for either event by Oct 23. To register and purchase luminaries, click here.

Luminaries will be provided at the event and can be customized before being used at the service.
