Two dead after crash in Watkins Glen

UPDATE (10/16): The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office identified the two victims of a deadly crash that happened in Watkins Glen Sunday morning.

Manjula Velikanti, 55, and Prasad Velikanti, 61, were killed when the driver of the car they were in, identified as 30-year-old Anjani Velikanti, failed to yield to another vehicle in the right of way at the intersection of County Road 16 and County Road 17, according to police.

Anjani Velikanti was not injured in the crash and was summoned to court for allegedly failing to yield. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle involved in the accident were not hurt.

The Sheriff's Office said the victim's identification indicated they were from India.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two people were killed in a crash that happened in Watkins Glen on Sunday morning.

According to the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office, emergency crews were called out at 10:52 a.m. to County Route 16 and County Route 17 in Watkins Glen for a report of a 2-car accident. Upon arrival, deputies said two passengers in one of the vehicles were fatally injured.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and updates will follow.
