Gas line break in Elmira leads to outages

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Over 100 NYSEG gas customers in West Elmira are without services Wednesday evening after a line broke earlier, according to the City of Elmira.

It happened on the 800 block of Fassett Road. The break has since been fixed and poses no risk for anyone in the area, according to Chemung County Executive Chris Moss.

109 customers are without gas services due to the break. NYSEG now has to go door-to-door to restore gas services to those impacted. That process could be over as soon as Wednesday night, and as late as Thursday morning.
