Upcoming October Events & Programs at the Southeast Steuben Co. Library

(WENY) -- April Showers bring May flowers, but October brings another round of new programs and events at the Southeast Steuben County Library in Corning. Sue McConnell, the Children's Librarian said they are amped up and ready to go with fun things for kids to do.

"We are doing some book character pumpkin decorating towards the end of the month on October 28th. (Registration opens on Oct. 14th.) This Friday we are doing a Tween After Hours where the tweens (ages 9-12) will come in and make these really cool cemetariums. Then after the library closes, we will watch Hocus Pocus. Registration for that is open now," said McConnell.

On Monday, Oct. 7th, registration opens for Van Gogh's Starry Night. This is where kids can recreate Starry Night, but with their own twist that includes ghosts and pumpkins.

McConnell also said kids will have the chance to make their own balloon car.

"We're having the Science and Discovery Center come in and do balloon cars with us. There's no registration required just pop into the library on Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day at 11 a.m. Making a balloon car out of a balloon and other things around the house is going to be so much fun," said McConnell.
