ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- A Pennsylvania woman not only celebrated a milestone birthday, but also crossed something off her bucket list. Mildred Corwin celebrated her 102nd birthday on Friday, Oct. 4th and to commemorate the moment, she took a ride on the carousel at Eldridge Park in Elmira.
"I don't feel like it. I don't feel young, but I don't feel 102 either. That's a lot of years ya know," said Corwin jokingly.
Despite the summer season being over, volunteers opened the ride once more for the lively centenarian.
"[I saw a commercial] on t.v. quite a long time ago [with] a Merry-Go-Round and I thought, 'I want to go on that again.' It's been so long and I thought, 'I'd love to go back on it,'" said Corwin.
She went on the carousel not once, but twice and enjoyed it. She had the biggest smile on her face each time it went round-and-round. When asked if she got dizzy, she said 'Oh shucks, no' and laughed.
Corwin said the secret to a long life is "waking up every morning and thanking the Lord."
As for the next item on her bucket list, she's not sure what she's going to do yet, but she does know she's lived a good life.
