UPDATE 12:30PM 10/4: New York State Police released details of what led up to Thursday evening's crash in Bath.

State Police responded to a disturbance at the Kwik Fill on West Morris Street in Bath, just before 10 p.m. When troopers arrived, they say 70-year-old Daniel Sheldon of Beaver Dams was driving around the parking lot in a 2010 Toyota Corolla, trying to hit people with his vehicle. Troopers then say they tried to get Sheldon to stop, but he did not comply and fled the scene in his car, launching the pursuit on Route 415.

The chase traveled down Route 415 until police say Sheldon failed to negotiate a turn in the road, went off the road and hit the guardrail near Spaulding Drive, rolling over the car and coming to a stop in a field adjacent to the Nicholas Clark Bridge.

Sheldon was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
