Elmira Downtown Hosts Final Alive After Five; Secret Garden Planned for October 4

ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- Elmira's Downtown Development agency has had a busy summer, with Wisner Market concluding its 27th season on Thursday, and the final Alive After 5 outdoor summer series drawing to a close on Friday.

Friday's final Alive After 5 will be hosted by Ill Eagle Taphouse, with live music by Crazy for Days and Bad Bear.

Looking ahead, Elmira Downtown Development has a number of events coming up in the month of October.

The organization is bringing back its Secret Garden dining experience, scheduled for Friday, October 4th. Guests can enjoy an outdoor dining experience at a secret location in Elmira, to be revealed only the day of the event.

"It's normally a location you wouldn't have dinner at, or that you might pass by and not even think twice about. And it's usually a gem that isn't talked about or visited a lot, events aren't at," said Kylene Kiah, Executive Director at Elmira Downtown Development. "We have live music, Hill Top [Inn] for dinner, we'll have MarShell's [Restaurant] and Rye Bar for hors d'oeuvres, we'll have The Cakery for dessert. So we try to have a little bit of local business involved."

In previous years, the event was held on the rooftop of the Centertown Parking Garage, and Clemens Square.

Tickets are $50, and can be purchased online. Attendees will receive an email with the Secret Garden location the morning of October 4th.

Later in the month, Elmira Downtown will host a Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 25th on Main Street, next to Wisner Park. Participants are still wanted, to decorate their trunks and hand out candy. More information can be found here

And lastly on Saturday, EDD is hosting SPOOKY - an adult Halloween dance party at Ill Eagle Taphouse on East Church Street. The event will feature a DJ, with cocktails and special treats. There will be a costume contest with prizes. Admission is $20 and includes one cocktail and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased online
