ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Downtown Elmira was alive as People's Place Gallery's 'Rock the Block' took over Baldwin Street.
Rock the Block was an outdoor street festival celebrating the art, music, and fashion of Elmira. There was face painting, tattoos, local art, and live music. People's Place Gallery owner Michael Houghton said he was happy the community came out to celebrate.

"I see that people want this to happen. It's just proof that it can be done. It's just great to see a community come together like this," said Houghton.
People's Place Gallery will be more than just a place to view Houghton's art and fashion; it will be a place for other artists to showcase their talents. There is also a small retail space, as well as a cafe; the space can also be used for community and private events.
