Chemung Co. Inv. Michael Theetge's Moving Testimonial at Guthrie Fire & Ice Gala

(WENY) -- Over the weekend, Guthrie hosted its annual "Fire and Ice Gala," a fundraising event aimed at supporting the organization's medical services. During the gala, Guthrie showcased a heartfelt video about Chemung County Investigator Michael Theetge's recovery.

Theetge was critically injured in the line of duty in March while responding to a shoplifting incident at Target in Big Flats. He spent 47 days receiving in-patient care at Guthrie's Robert Packer Hospital, followed by rehabilitation in Rochester.

"I don't remember the event at all," says Inv. Theetge. "There were a ton of procedures performed by the doctors. There were a bunch of different conditions, from heart issues to breathing issues to different things they had to deal with in addition to the brain injury. It was determined I had several problem areas in the brain from the CT scan, and at that point, they transferred me right down to Robert Packer."

Theetge had the chance to see some of the caregivers who saved his life.

Even though the gala is over, Guthrie says donations for emergency services funds are still available by clicking here
