PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Misfit, WENY’s Pet of the Week from the Pawz and Purrz Animal Rescue!
Amy Litwiler is currently fostering Misfit, who calls her ‘Miss’ for short, says the name was given to her by her original family. Litwiler says she’s not fully certain about her breed, but she’s between 6 and 7 years old.
Not only does she love belly rubs, but Miss likes to greet everyone by standing on her back legs and waving her front paws.
“Obviously she's a lap dog, she loves to be on your lap, but she'll run in the yard, she likes her doggy friends at my house.”
Miss came to Litwiler’s home due to her history with chickens at her previous residence.
“She has to go to a new home without chickens or rodents or lizards as pets, but [she gets along with] any other canine pet. She loves to meet other dogs and she's very nice and playful.”
The most suitable home for Miss would be one where children are 5 years or older considering she loves to jump when guests are around. She could also be placed with an older individual and or couple.
“It has to be somebody who wouldn't mind, you know, having her warm little body next year in bed because she really loves to cuddle in bed, especially under the covers.”
Litwiler says she is still missing a little bit of skin on her tail and backside due to fleas that went untreated, but with a special bath she’s given twice a week, her fur has been progressively growing back.
