Joey Logano ready to compete at Watkins Glen International after victory in Atlanta

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) - The first day of racing at Watkins Glen International has concluded to kick off NASCAR week all leading up to Sunday's Go Bowling at the Glen Cup Series Playoff race.

Sunday's race is the second playoff race on the schedule after Atlanta last week as Joey Logano leads the early playoff standings after capturing the checkered flag last week. Logano has finished strong at WGI the last couple of years, finishing in 10th last season and 3rd in 2022. He also has a win at WGI in 2022.

Today, Logano talked about what it will take to carry his momentum at a track like Watkins Glen now that it's in the playoffs.

"We've been ok here, I've been decent with top tens but we haven't won here since I think it was 2015 so it's been a while since we've been in victory lane here so I'd like to change that. This would be a great weekend to try that, I can be aggressive," Logano said

"We talked about it earlier about getting a win last weekend and how there's only something to gain there's nothing to lose so you can be more aggressive behind the wheel with how you just drive the car," he added. "Not worrying about us locking up tires as much or cutting curbs too tight or going for it and having more aggressive passes, more aggressive strategy. We can do those things a little more all or nothing to make up that gap for where we've been here lately in the 7th-10th position and try to get us in the 1st-5th positions."

The Xfinity drivers will race on Saturday at 3 PM with the Cup Drivers competing in the Go Bowling at the Glen playoff race on Sunday at 3 PM.
