Two shot near Brand Park in Elmira

UPDATE: Elmira Police announced Friday that officers arrested Tyjai Vansickle, a 25-year-old from Elmira, after their investigation into the shooting near Brand Park Wednesday.

Vansickle is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, however police say more charges are expected.

He was taken to the Chemung County Jail after being arraigned in Elmira City Court.

ELMIRA, N.Y (WENY) -- Two people were hurt after getting shot Wednesday evening near Brand Park in Elmira, according to Elmira Police.

Police say they were dispatched to the area after they got a report that someone was shot near there, shortly after 5 p.m. Elmira Police found two victims underneath the Allen-Berry Bridge. They were each taken to a local hospital. Their injuries are not life threatening.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.
