TIOGA COUNTY, PA. (WENY) -- The Tioga County, Pennsylvania Sheriff's Office is implementing a program designed to help drivers with special needs during traffic stops. The initiative is called the Blue Envelope Program.

Drivers with autism, anxiety, communication challenges and more can enroll in the program to easily communicate with law enforcement during a traffic stop, according to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office.

Those who enroll in the blue envelope program will be able to hand it to officers they interact with while out on the road. Participants are asked to place a copy of their identification, car registration, proof of insurance and a form that details their special needs. The outside of the envelope will also tell the officer whether the person they are interacting with is verbal or non-verbal.

The Sheriff's Office says the program will help make interactions between special needs individuals and law enforcement easier.

You can pick up a blue envelope at the Tioga County Sheriff's Office in Wellsboro.
