ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Harris Hill Amusement Park has become a generational treasure in Chemung County, opening its’ doors to friends and families around the community.
From go-karts to batting cages and even arcade games. Harris Hill Amusement Park has something for everyone.
The amusement park has been open since 1947 and has established attractions for thrill-seekers of all ages. Harris Hill started with pony rides and now has evolved into family fun for everyone, says the owner of Harris Hill Amusement Park, Jay Goodwin.
“Come up, have a picnic, enjoy the pool, come here, enjoy the attractions that we have.”
One of the numerous attractions offered at the park is the go-karts, where visitors can put the pedal to the medal in a friendly race. Riders are offered single or double-seater pacer kart. While some may not enjoy go-karts, you can always try for a hole-in-one at the miniature golf course.
An 18-hole miniature golf course will put you up to the challenge, along with a driving range with targets of one hundred and twenty-five yards. A small bucket of balls costs $9.50, and a large bucket of balls is $13.00. Both adult and children's clubs are available for your use.
Mondays at Harris Hill Amusement Park are “all-you-can-play miniature golf from 12 PM to 6 PM for 11 dollars!
The fun doesn’t just end there – you can take a swing at the batting cages, where they range from slow-pitch softball to fast-pitch baseball. You can bring your own bat from home if you would like and hit a home run!
For children of a younger age, Harris Hill Amusement Park does have six kiddie rides. Tickets will need to be purchased to go on the rides. After all the fun in the sun, you can cool down by testing your skills in the arcade. From classic pinball to Skee-Ball machines, Harris Hill Amusement Park offers various challenges.
All that fun from rides and games will make you hungry and thirsty. You can stop by their concession stand and treat yourself to an assortment of food and drink.
Many memories are created here year after year as families and friends continue to visit the park. Goodwin recalls “just seeing the people every year come back and then seeing their kids have kids. It makes [me] feel old, but it's very interesting, very cool to see.”
