ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - An Elmira man was sentenced Friday for a high speed chase in 2021 that started in Elmira and ended in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. This came a month after he killed 35 year old Christopher White.

According to the Bradford County District Attorney, 42 year old Lawrence Williams of Elmira was sentenced to 18 to 60 months in a New York State Prison.

Williams previously pled guilty in October 2021 to intentionally shooting and killing Christopher White in April of that year in front of Park Place in Elmira.

A month after the shooting, in May of 2021, Williams led police on a high speed chase through Southport and continued along Route 427 in Chemung County across the state line into Wilawana, Pennsylvania.
