Corning's Aidan Chamberlin signs to play Division I baseball for Navy

CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) - It was a special day for Corning senior, Aidan Chamberlin. Friday afternoon, Chamberlin signed to play Division-I baseball at the United States Naval Academy.

Aidan was joined by family, friends, and coaches as he put pen to paper.

Chamberlin has been a key piece of Corning's baseball program over the last few years. He is a four-year varsity starter where he was an All-League selection in 2019 and an All-Conference selection in 2021. Chamberlin helped the Hawks to 2 Section IV Class AA Championships.

Aidan also excels in the classroom, maintaining a 97 GPA and landing on the High Honor Roll every marking period. He plans to study Economics and hopes to become a commissioned officer in the Navy or Marine Corps after graduation from Navy.

Aidan spoke about the process and his final decision, and he is ready to take on the transition to the D-I level.

"It was a long process I will say that, but I think I was pretty slow in it and I really wanted to make sure I made the right decision," said Chamberlin. I think between the military aspect, which was huge for me, and the baseball program I love the coaches at Navy, they're historically a really good team and I like what they bring to the table so it was a pretty straightforward choice for me."

"It's definitely going to be tough, and I know I have a ton of work to do, but my goal is still to go in and play from day one, and I know to do that although I may be finishing high school shortly, the work is only just starting," he added. So from the jump that's just my goal to take nothing for granted and hopefully find a spot my freshman year.
