BATH, N.Y. (WENY) – Effective Monday, Steuben County has reopened all public offices to walk-in appointments.

Per state and federal guidance, those who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 do not need to wear face coverings; those who are not vaccinated must wear face masks in all public areas in the office buildings, like hallways and office suites. The only exception is the State Court Offices. Officials say that organization still requires face coverings for everyone, regardless of vaccination status.

The county said it has also been notified the Department of Motor Vehicles can open for walk-ins. Up until this point, the DMV has been open by appointment only for more than a year due to the pandemic. DMV appointments will be honored through June 14.

Officials say to make sure you have all the required documents before arriving. Forms are available at dmv.ny.gov and will also be available at the Main County Office Building entrance as well as the Corning and Hornell DMV offices. At this time, all offices are continuing to process transactions for Steuben County residents, landowners and contiguous counties only.

“We are grateful for the patience of Steuben County residents and the flexibility and hard work of County staff,” said County Manager Jack Wheeler.  “While all offices have been fully functional and providing services to residents utilizing appointments, we are pleased to reopen the facilities to walk-in visits.”
