ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Caden Charnetski was transferred from the Chemung County Jail to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision on Tuesday.
Charnetski originally reported to the Chemung County Jail in November 2020 after his appeal was denied by the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court. He was an inmate at Chemung County Jail awaiting his transfer to NYS DOCCS due to COVID-19 challenges facing the prison system. The prison that Charnetski will serve the remainder of his sentence is not publicly available at this time -- pending inmate classification.
As WENY News reported, in July 2018, Charnetski was driving his car on Westinghouse Road in Horseheads with three passengers. As he was turning left onto Westlake Street, he collided with a motorcycle Harolyn and Matthew Matteson were riding on. Both of the Mattesons were killed.
