Carson Power Pauses Battery Storage Component for Proposed Town of Elmira Solar Project
TOWN OF ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Carson Power announced they have temporarily removed the battery energy storage component (BESS) from their plans for the community solar project on West Hill Road in the Town of Elmira.
Town of Elmira attorney Scott Moore confirmed the temporary removal from the plans on Tuesday afternoon. Carson Power said in a statement, "While the Hillcrest Solar project, including the proposed battery storage, fully complies with the Town of Elmira's current zoning provisions, Carson Power has put a pause on the battery storage component to allow the Town of Elmira Planning Board and Town Board to have the opportunity to revisit and re-adopt its local battery storage law."
The solar component of the project will still be under consideration by the Town of Elmira. The next Town of Elmira meeting will take place on March 24th at 7 p.m. at town hall.
