ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) --Downtown Elmira just got a bit more exciting with the the grand opening of the Playground Sports Bar. The new spot is a family owned  business where guests can get a cold drink or play a variety of bar games.

"We are happy to develop Downtown Elmira, bring something new, bring something for everyone to do," says owner Kaylen Knox

The West Water Street Bar opened at Friday, June 28th's Alive After Five downtown summer concert series. Elmirians and all of the visitors can enjoy a bar decorated with graffiti about the Big Apple in New York City.

The Playground is made up of 6,000 square feet, 34 TVs and 34 beers on tap. Games include pool tables, darts, and a giant connect four.

John Lewis stopped by the bar to have a good time and enjoy a beverage as the second weekend in Summer officially begins tonight.

"It means everybody getting together, having a good time, seeing some friends. We got great weather and we're all about having a good time and listen to some live bands and some music," shared Lewis.

The official hours and days of operation have not yet been released. The Playground is located at 218 W. Water Street in Elmira.
