Tractor trailer accident closes off Watkins Rd
UPDATE: 05/8/24: 10:30 a.m. -- Both lanes of Watkins Road have been reported as open.
UPDATE: 05/8/24: 10:00 a.m. -- Currently the crash is being cleaned up and Watkins Road has been reduced to one lane of traffic. According to New York State Police, the cleanup is expected to last a few hours.
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Emergency personnel responded to a tractor trailer accident on Watkins Rd between Westinghouse and Wygant Rd around 2 a.m.
The truck was seen in a ditch and was reported as a rollover.
A WENY reporter at the scene says the truck had hit a portion of the power lines and the road was closed off.
Residents in the area also experienced a short power outage.
There's no word yet on how the accident happened or if the driver sustained any injuries.
