Fire burns more than 100 cars in Owego scrapyard

OWEGO, N.Y. (WENY) - An overnight fire burned roughly 150 cars in an Owego scrapyard Monday.
According to the Owego Fire Department, crews were called to Weitsman Recycling around 3:00 a.m. Parts of Main Street were shut down for hours as crews worked to put out the blaze.
Officials say they believe the fire was caused by a battery left in one of the cars brought in to be scrapped.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
