#InItTogether - OCTV's Melissa Noel
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has turned communities around the globe into one village. WENY TV News parent company, Lilly Broadcasting is working to bring you stories of community, strength and understanding with perspective from our colleagues around the country.
It's a conversation about how life in each of the areas we cover has changed and how people are finding unique, creative, and supportive ways to stay informed and connected. Because we are all #InItTogether.
WENY's Isabel Garcia checks in with One Caribbean Television reporter, Melissa Noel, who is based in the New York City metro area. Over the past week, more state-to-state data is showing that African Americans are disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and dying from the illness.
Melissa discusses a new effort started by a group of black physicians with different specialties from across the country who came together online to bring attention to not only disparity issues amid the pandemic, but across other health ailments, too.
Dr. Joshua Anthony created the #endthedisparity hashtag as a challenge to shine more light on the overall issue.
