BIG FLATS N.Y.(WENY)--  As we reported back in March, the Chemung County Planning Board approved a plan to begin construction on a new Holiday Inn Express hotel on the mall's site. At the time, big flats officials told us work was supposed to get underway in April, however that never happened. Now, Fairbrother tells us the project is going to be moving forward again next spring. 

"Right now, I have talked to the developers of the hotel and they're looking at this next April or May of breaking ground and going forward..we're trying to get some grants for them and some other monies to help them to redevelop the mall," says Ed Fairbrother, Town Supervisor  

The plans included tearing down the old Bonton to make space for the Holiday Inn express, and also adding new additions throughout the mall. WENY News did reach out to officials at the Arnot Mall during regular business hours today, no one was available for comment.
