Fire causes major damage to home in Wellsburg
WELLSBURG, N.Y. (WENY) -- A home in Chemung County was severely damaged on Friday night after flames could be seen shooting out of the roof of the home.
The fire happened on East 4th Street in Wellsburg around 7 o'clock. When a WENY News reported arrived on scene, flames could be seen coming out of the windows near the attic. Firefighters had to break some windows in the process, and use a ladder hose over the roof of the home, to try and get an upper hand on the fire.
Multiple departments were called out, including Wellsburg, Southport and Ridgebury.
According to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, the home was vacant.
The cause is now under investigation.
