State Officials Honor Fallen NY State Trooper Nicholas Clark

ERWIN, N.Y. (WENY) – Following the death of 28-year-old New York State Trooper Nicholas Clark, state officials have released statements mourning the passing of the young officer, as well as providing well-wishes and prayers for his family.
Trooper Clark was killed while responding to reports of a suicidal individual. He had been part of the NYSP Bath barracks since 2017 and had been a state trooper since 2015.
He was 29-years-old.
Representative Tom Reed:
“While my thoughts and prayers go out each time a member of law enforcement is killed in the line of duty – today’s tragedy strikes especially close to not only my home but heart. Trooper Clark bravely put his life on the line to protect his community and should be recognized as a hero for his actions. As a fellow Alfred University graduate, I stand with his family and friends as they mourn.”
Assemblyman Phil Palmesano:
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Trooper Nicholas Clark. He died in the line of duty. He died doing what he did every day: protecting his friends, his family and his community. His tragic passing is a stark reminder that law enforcement is a dangerous job requiring immense bravery, courage and selflessness. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our law enforcement community during this difficult time, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and soul of Trooper Nicholas Clark, who represented the best of us.”
State Senator Tom O'Mara:
“First and foremost, on behalf of our entire region, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Trooper Nicholas Clark, and to all of his fellow New York State Troopers. Trooper Clark was killed in the line of duty. His death is another terrible reminder that the men and women of the New York State Police – and all law enforcement agencies – put their lives on the line every single day to protect the safety and well-being of our communities. We are grateful for, and deeply respect and honor their commitment, their service and their sacrifices.”
Governor Andrew Cuomo:
To the Clark family, to his mother, his father, his brother, we hope you find peace in this senseless act of violence. A 29-year-old trooper, a stellar trooper with an extraordinary record, his whole life before him. Great athlete. Well accomplished. He wanted to do one thing which was help people. And help public service and that's what the New York State Police afford, an opportunity to give back to your community, to help your community. To help other families. Situation like this makes no sense. On any side, the loss of life—29-year-old with his whole life ahead of him. Was just trying to help and do good things. As Governor, you deal with a lot of different situations. Some almost unimaginable. Especially in these difficult times. This is one situation that I've gone through before, the state police have gone through before, 13 troopers lost in 5 years. There's no answer. There's no point. It's just sad and painful.
Governor Cuomo has ordered all flags in the state to fly at half-staff in honor of Trooper Clark.
