BATH, N.Y. (WENY) - A tractor-trailer driver is recovering after an early morning accident on I-86.

The accident happened around 4:15am Monday on I-86 westbound near the Bath exit. According to the Bath Volunteer Fire Department, a refrigerated tractor-trailer went off the highway and rolled multiple times, causing severe damage.

Officials say the driver got himself out of the wreckage. He was transported to Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials closed down the westbound lane and the Exit 39 westbound on ramp while the scene was cleaned up. T&R Towing was also called to remove the wreckage and clean up the scene. The refrigerated trailer was filled with blueberries.
