House fire in Tuscarora sends two people to the hospital

TUSCARORA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two people were sent to the hospital after a large house fire in Steuben County. There's no word on the condition of the two victims, but the house on Route 417 in Tuscarora is declared as a total loss. There's also several missing pets.
Firefighters say they had to call in more than 8 different area fire departments to come and help out. A portion of Route 417 had to be shutdown in the process. The 911 call first came in around 8:30 p.m., after a passerby saw smoke on Wednesday night.
Right now, there's no official word on the cause, and it is under investigation. First responders believe a heater may be to blame.
