UPDATE 11AM: State Police have identified the trooper who was seriously injured in a crash in Campbell Wednesday.

Trooper Craig Foglia was sitting in his vehicle during a traffic stop and was struck from behind by a Ford F-150 driven by Kenneth Aukett of Westmont, New Jersey.

Aukett was transported to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre with non-life threatening injuries.

Trooper Foglia was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with serious injuries.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

UPDATE 11PM: State Police officials tell WENY News they are still clearing the accident on I-86 and will most likely be there for another hour. Limited details are being released at this time. 

Traffic was backed up for hours on I-86 Westbound as a result of the accident. Officers were directing traffic to Exit 41 at Campbell to Country Route 415.

CAMPBELL, NY (WENY) - According to our Rochester affiliate 13-WHAM in Rochester, New York State Police confirm a trooper had a vehicle pulled over and was struck by a pickup truck. He is being flown to URMC in Rochester.

State Police say the Trooper was seriously injured.

The accident happened between exit 40 and 42. Traffic in the area is backed-up.

No word yet on identity of the Trooper, or how the accident happened.

NYSP did confirm with WENY News that the Trooper is assigned to the Painted Post barracks.

No information was given about the other driver(s) involved in the crash.
