The New York State comptroller says a Southern Tier school district made mistakes in its budget process, and it's costing taxpayers. State comptroller Thomas DiNapoli reports poor oversight at the Jasper-Troupsburg School District led to improper payments to administrators, failure to claim Medicare reimbursements, and inaccurate budgets. DiNapoli found several mistakes, costing the district hundreds of thousands of dollars. The audit also revealed four-out-of-seven board members had inadequate fiscal oversight training. New board members have been elected since the audit period. DiNapoli's report states the new board appears to be taking a more active role. The Senate wants to cut money out because they're getting federal stimulus – but it's flat, which is like a cut, because of increased costs
