The Chemung County Health Department is asking you to get your child vaccinated for the H1N1 in school if possible. Local pediatric offices don't have enough vaccine for all children, so they are focusing on pre-school kids and high risk patients. The deadline to submit your child's consent form to be vaccinated in school is Monday. Also, to control the crowds in doctors' offices, you're encouraged to give them over-the-counter meds if they just have a fever and sore throat. Symptoms that require seeing a doctor are things like discolored skin, trouble breathing, severe vomiting and dehydration.
